Can semaglutide help with Weight Loss without injections? Yes: an oral semaglutide tablet specifically developed for chronic weight management has been approved in the United States. However, the newer Wegovy weight-loss pill is not the same as Rybelsus tablets used for Type 2 Diabetes, and US approval does not mean it is already approved or available for Weight Loss in India.

How Much Weight Loss Can a Semaglutide Tablet Produce?
In the OASIS 4 clinical trial, the oral semaglutide 25 mg group achieved approximately 16.6% mean weight loss among participants who adhered to treatment, as reported by the manufacturer. This is a clinical trial result, not a promise for every patient. Outcomes depend on adherence, starting weight, tolerance, lifestyle and other factors. It is not appropriate to apply this result to Rybelsus 3 mg, 7 mg or 14 mg tablets.
How Is Oral Semaglutide Taken?
Oral semaglutide requires careful administration for absorption. Follow the instructions for the exact prescribed product: typically it is taken on an empty stomach with a small amount of plain water, followed by a waiting period before eating, drinking or taking other oral medicines. Tablet strengths and dose escalation differ between formulations. Do not copy a Wegovy pill dose when using Rybelsus, or vice versa. Your clinician must prescribe the appropriate locally approved regimen.
Who May Be Eligible for a Weight Loss Tablet?
Prescription weight-management medicines may be considered for selected adults with elevated BMI, especially when accompanied by weight-related health conditions, according to local indications. Assessment should include Diabetes status, cardiovascular and kidney health, other medicines, pregnancy plans, history of pancreatitis or gallbladder disease and suitability for long-term follow-up.

- Common: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal discomfort and reflux, especially during dose escalation.
- Dehydration can worsen kidney function, particularly with persistent vomiting or poor fluid intake.

Is the Wegovy Weight Loss Pill Available in India in 2026?
As of October 2026, Novo Nordisk has indicated that the higher-dose oral semaglutide weight-management product is expected to launch in India around mid-2027, subject to regulatory approval. The timeline may change. Rybelsus is already available in India for Type 2 Diabetes, but patients should not assume it carries the same Weight Loss indication or produces the same trial results as Wegovy 25 mg tablets.
What Is the Price of Semaglutide Weight Loss Tablets in India?
An Indian MRP for the new Wegovy oral Weight Loss tablet cannot yet be quoted reliably because the product’s India launch and approval are pending. Rybelsus pharmacy prices vary by strength, seller and discounts, and are not a valid substitute for a future Wegovy pill price. Semaglutide Tablet vs Weekly Injection
A daily tablet avoids injections but requires strict timing and fasting instructions. Weekly semaglutide injections use a different dosing schedule and may be preferable for some patients.
